A half day intensive clinical communication workshop aimed at equipping staff with the confidence and skills to have better conversations in challenging situations.

The session will be facilitated by in house trained EC4H Tutors.  If you want to secure a place please discuss with your line manager and email qcat@chas.org.uk

This workshop is for CHAS staff only.

Overview

Participants work in small peer groups and address communication issues drawn from their own clinical practice.

Common challenges addressed are:

  • Handling anger, emotional distress, collusion or denial
  • Discussing complex or distressing information with children and families
  • Introducing future care planning including CYPADM and ACP
  • Managing conversations around re-orientation of care
  • Addressing poor performance by trainees, colleagues or other members of the clinical team
  • How to enhance effective teamwork

Learning Outcomes

Review your current practice in relation to communication in clinical situations with colleagues
Identify your personal learning objectives and develop strategies for addressing them with your peer group
Consider and take account of child, family and colleague’s perspective
Identify and practice ways of increasing the effectiveness of your communication
Exchange ideas and experiences with colleagues
